The Urban Enterprise Scheme, a project to help set up new businesses in Plymouth, jointly funded by Plymouth City Council and the European Regional Development Fund has been extended.

Delivered by partners Working Links, Outset Plymouth and SWIG Finance, the projects provides free tailored support and loan funding packages to would-be business owners.

Funding for the business support had been due to end in March 2015, but has now been extended until the end of June 2015, with the loan funding from SWIG Finance running until December 2015.

Since its launch in 2010 the scheme has helped more than 250 businesses in Plymouth and the surrounding area to get off the ground, as well as providing advice and guidance to almost 3,000 people, sowing the seeds of enterprise across the city.

Examples of new businesses launched through the project include a dance studio, a clock repairer, a craft shop, a logistics business, a baby-clothes shop, a floristry shop, cleaning businesses, a skincare retailer, as well as helping people launch freelance careers in sectors such as architecture, marketing and photography.
