Magpie and Fox, launched this year by Amber Cotgreave has just been awarded the Best New Business award at Cornwall’s Hub awards.
Based on Kenwyn Street in Truro, Magpie and Fox opened its doors in March following funding and support from SWIG Finance.
Following the birth of her son in 2013, Amber wanted the flexibility of running her own business. With skills learned at Seasalt Cornwall as an Account Manager, Amber wanted to open a shop where shopping was an enjoyable experience and customer service was key. Needing to buy all of the stock up front, Amber and her husband, Adam, approached SWIG Finance and applied for funding via the government-backed Start Up Loan Scheme.
Amber said: “SWIG Finance was a massive support to us, without the funding we wouldn’t have been able to open!”
“In the future we would like to invest in the ecommerce side of the business, which would mean creating another full time position in the company. Then after that, more Magpie and Fox boutiques!”
