Helping businesses in the South West

Welcoming a new face

Aaron Hamshire with Managing Director John Peters

This month we’re pleased to welcome Aaron Hamshire to the SWIG Finance team. Based in our Cornwall office, Aaron has taken on the role of Business Manager, working with both start up and growing businesses that have applied to us for finance and reviewing their applications.

Where were you before you joined us?

I started my career in finance in 2008 working with Barclays in Truro as a Start Up Manager, supporting people who had made the decision to go self-employed. For the last seven years at Barclays I was a Relationship Manager, supporting SMEs in West Cornwall.

What do you like about working with businesses?

The lending element of my job is always the most enjoyable as this is where you can really get to know your businesses and can have the largest impact when helping them. I had the responsibility of helping the Cornwall team identify and know how to support High Growth businesses and entrepreneurs so it was important we worked with them really closely.

What made you want to work with SWIG Finance?

SWIG Finance has a great ethos and a strong desire to help businesses and that is something I want to be a part of. In my previous role I used to refer businesses to SWIG where Barclays were unable to help with finance so I got to know the company well.

Anything else we should know about you?

I’m 36, I’m a fair-weather and therefore poor golfer. I recently took up mountain biking. I follow MotoGP and support the Exeter Chiefs.
