Starting and running your own business can be a lonely and demanding challenge for many of Devon’s enterprising women living in rural areas and finding good advice and support can be crucial to their success.
Help is at hand with the Women Led Enterprise programme from Devon Communities Together as part of Heart of the South West Business Support. This fully funded project enables networks of like-minded rural business women to connect, learn and share their experiences.
In 2014, around 100 women benefited from attending WLE Appetizer roadshows and second course workshops. We are now offering the change for more enterprising women to connect with each other and learn new skills that will propel their business to the next level.
Sarah Cressall, founder of The Creation Station experience firsthand the benefits of this programme to women in business. She said: “I started my business because I wanted more flexibility around family committment and wanted to do something rewarding. Like many others I started around the kitchen table and empathise with how running a business by yourself, especially while also managing busy family life. Meeting like-minded people and being able to share ideas, experiences and top tips is really valuable and help keep you on track to achieve your goals.
“By learning and sharing together, the women left reinvigorated, inspired and confident to continue to work and achieve the dreams and goals.”
