A Plymouth-based pet furniture manufacturer, Plymouth Paws Furniture, has become the latest startup venture to receive funding through SWIG Finance.
The small Start Up Loan, accessed via The Start Up Loans Company, will be used to purchase machinery that will speed up the manufacturing process.
The business, run by Jason Osborne, caters for both dogs and cats with bespoke made-to-measure furniture, including beds, lead and collar holders and feeding stations. All of these products are handmade using solid pine wood.
The venture began as a personal project, as Jason could not find an existing product on the market which met his dog’s needs.
As word got out about Jason’s craftmanship, many of Jason’s friends and family began requesting furniture for their own pets. That’s when Jason realized that his hobby could be a converted into business opportunity.
Of the funding, Jason commented “The application process was straightforward and easy to navigate. Our business manager, Mark Thayre, was very helpful in providing support and advice throughout”.
