A Gloucestershire-based travel business has had a £13k Start Up Loan boost via SWIG Finance.

Red Kite Adventures specialises in overseas educational trips for students and schools. Destinations include Iceland, Sweden, Indonesia and Thailand, with each trip focusing on learning about specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Red Kite Adventures

These adventures provide students with an enriching and hands-on learning experience that results in tangible impact outcomes.

Red Kite’s mission is to inspire a generation of change-makers to help drive a more proactive approach to addressing sustainability issues on a local and global scale.

The business is led by Matt Rappel, who has worked in the education sector throughout his career in both the UK and in Hong Kong.

The Start Up Loan helped Matt to secure his ATOL credentials and support the marketing for the business launch.

Matt commented “The best thing about running my own business is the personal growth opportunities. The amount of learning required is daunting but inspirational. My experience with SWIG Finance was very good – they have offered further assistance and the online resources are great”.

Nicki Kimberley from SWIG Finance supported Matt’s application. Nicki said “Matt’s business is truly inspirational – sustainability is a critical issue globally, and the work that Red Kite Adventures is doing to encourage more young people to proactively address environmental concerns will have a far-reaching benefit”.
